Our studio is known for throwing great events and this is no exception. Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 29 from 7 – 10 p.m. for “A Night to Remember” as we put on OTF Prom Night at McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse – Imbrie Hall.
Coach Persia grew up in-and-out of foster care at the ages or 6, 12 and 16. During her high school years, she moved around frequently and didn’t spend enough time at a school to attend a prom.
Unlike some students in high school, Persia wanted to go to prom but focused on graduating and getting out on her own. She eventually received her GED through Portland Community College, which was a great accomplishment for her.
“I love our community and they are my real friends. So, I’m excited to sweat on the dance floor instead of serving burpees. I’m excited to let go and have a blast for a single night with a room full of people that truly care and love me! I feel like Cinderella — a dreamy night.”
When Persia learned that OTF Prom Night was thrown together in her name and benefited Boys and Girls Aid, she felt deeply moved by the act. “It still is a shock and very hard to believe that I am that important. I’m such a giver. I’m not so great on the receiving end so this is still a mind-blowing celebration. I feel incredibly special and loved,” said Persia.
She looks forward to shopping for her first prom dress and the most hugs and smiles all in one night. She waits with anticipation and excitement to see all the staff and members “dressed to the nines” having a wonderful time with one another. She said, “I love our community and they are my real friends. So, I’m excited to sweat on the dance floor instead of serving burpees. I’m excited to let go and have a blast for a single night with a room full of people that truly care and love me! I feel like Cinderella — a dreamy night.”
All proceeds will go to Boys & Girls Aid, a non-profit in Portland, which paired Persia with a caring foster family. Tickets are $25 each (cash only) and are on sale now at the front counter until Thursday, December 20. Only 250 tickets will be sold, so get yours today!
